Our reconditioned Chippers are machines returned under the terms of our DR Hands-On Trial Period and are barely used. Each machine is inspected, reconditioned, restored to "like new" condition and sold at substantial savings.

They also come with our standard two-year warranty and our Hands-On Trial Period. Reconditioned machines are available on a first come, first serve basis, so we generally recommend calling directly to speak with a Sales Representative to check on the availability of a particular model. Also, we are unable to offer reservation orders or waiting lists for reconditioned machines.

Our Sales Team can be reached at toll free 1-888-550-0062, Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 8 pm, Saturday 8:30 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 9 am to 5:30 pm, Eastern Time.

Unfortunately the fly wheel on most manual start engines is not set up to accept the addition of a starter motor. Due to this, I recommend that if you think you are going to want an electric start version in the future, it is best to get it from the beginning.

Additionally, in the off chance that an engine manufacturer does make the engine able to have an electric start assembly added to it, usually purchasing the parts to do this upgrade is quite a bit more than the price difference between a manual start and electric start machine.

For more information on this machine, please give our sales department a call at 1-(888) 550-0062 Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 8:00pm Eastern, Saturday from 8:30am - 5:00pm, and Sunday from 9:30am - 5:30pm. We will be happy to assist you and look forward to hearing from you.

Currently we have two options for discharge chutes for this machine. The two options we have available are the standard chute and the optional extended chute (extended chute shown in picture).

If neither of these chutes fit your needs, we would be happy to hear in more detail about what it is you are looking for.

If you would like to provide more information, please email us at info@drpower.com and we can pass the information on to Product Development for consideration.

We have used our chipper for piles of dead trees and branches (hardwood and softwood) that have been cut for several months. We have had no issues with cutting these up to 4.5" thick. Once the trees or branches get started down into the cutter, you can just let them be pulled in by the blades. Ours works great!

The 16.50 Pro manual start Chipper weighs 370 lbs and the electric start model weighs 392 lbs. For easy transport, it comes standard with a pin hitch to mount to an ATV or tractor.
The Chipper is mounted on a large frame with easy-rolling tires, so maneuverability by hand depends on the individual.

This is a very durable chipper but it can be rolled by hand on flat ground easily. The weight is fairly nicely centered over the tires but the tongue weight is a little heavy. If you can't lift 50 pounds, you probably should not try moving it by hand.

Our Chipper/Shredder has a separate hopper for specifically shredding vegetation. If greenery is ran through a chipper hopper it doesn't necessarily become "chipped". It will mostly just tear it up. Whereas a shredder hopper will mulch the greenery. All of the models have their own chipping and shredding capacities.

All models of the DR Chipper come standard with the low profile discharge chute. However, we offer an optional extended top-discharge chute that is compatible with the 16.50 Pro, 30.00 Pro-XL and the 3-Point Hitch Chipper models.

To view the optional top-discharge chute, please click on the following link:

http://www.drpower.com/prdSell.aspx...

The DR Chippers and Chipper/Shredders are not intended for the processing of manufactured paper products, they are designed to chip or shred only normal organic debris. The Chippers have never been tested with cardboard, so we do not have any specific performance data on this material and therefore can not guarantee it would work for this application.

Is this product good for cedars?

Most of my debris is from limbing cedars and softer hardwoods. Is this going to chip the soft cedar limbs that can be small in diameter at times? I don't want to make the investment to discover that is wont handle the material. Also..Is this unit going to work rapidly as advertised? I have lots of material and limited time to work at home.

All of the DR CHIPPERS are designed to handle any type of wood that can fit down the hopper opening (within the maximum diameter ratings) and make rigid contact with the knife-edge. For smaller diameter limbs, we suggest you bundle them up before loading into the hopper.
Once you drop and guide the branches into the large hopper, most branches are chipped without having to push them through the machine. About 90% of the material you drop in will chip on its own, freeing you to get more material.
